What to Expect During Your Paragliding Flight

Buckle up your smile—we're about to take off!

Is today the big day?

Please arrive at the time specified in the confirmation text message you received yesterday.
Head to the Col de la Forclaz takeoff area via our great shuttle (20-minute ride).
Briefing with your instructor to learn everything about the flight (stay focused!).
Put on your harness and helmet, then connect to your instructor’s paraglider.
A gentle takeoff, starting by running down a slope as gentle as a carpet (no leaping into the void!).
Very comfortable seating in the harness.

During a scenic flight, the pilot will look for the areas most conducive to thermals and then circle within them to gain altitude or maintain it. Here is the rest of your journey:

Head to Lake Annecy for a long, gentle glide over this majestic expanse of water.
Observation of the surrounding area, including details on the names of the places flown over.
Choose between a flight over the lake and/or a thrilling experience, depending on your preferences and the day’s conditions!

A few seconds before landing, your instructor will ask you to stand up, then take a few steps as you touch down. You’re back on solid ground in front of your companions, who are very proud of you! To share one last smile before you leave, check out your photos and videos from the paragliding flight—and take these memories home with you.

Can I fly if I'm afraid of heights?

Yes, it’s definitely possible to go paragliding even if you’re afraid of heights! Paragliding is a very gentle and controlled activity. The instructor will guide you every step of the way, and the takeoff is smooth and slow, with no sensation of freefall.

What are updrafts?

Updrafts are pockets of air that rise naturally into the atmosphere. This happens when warm air near the ground is heated by the sun: it expands and rises into the sky. In paragliding, these currents are used to gain altitude. Paragliders aim to position themselves within these updrafts to stay airborne longer and even climb higher.

Could I be sick?

If you’re prone to motion sickness or have ear problems (such as sensitivity to changes in pressure), please let us know before the flight! We’ll do our best to make the experience as smooth as possible.

When is the best time to take a scenic flight?

The best time for paragliding is generally late morning or afternoon. This is because weather conditions are more stable and thermal currents are more predictable.

Can I go on a scenic paragliding flight if I wear glasses or contact lenses?

Of course! It’s perfectly fine to fly while wearing glasses or contact lenses. However, it’s recommended that you wear glasses with a strap to prevent them from falling off during the flight.

Do you need prior experience to go paragliding?

No, you don't need any experience to go paragliding. Tandem flights are supervised by qualified instructors!
