Well-known in the world of mountaineering and paragliding, Claire Bernier is aFrench and European paraglidingchampion—but that’s not all. She also won the ParaglidingWorld Cupin 1995, 1997, and 1998.
When it comes to mountains, this professional paraglider has set herself a daunting challenge: to climb and then paraglide off the highest peaks on every continent in the world. Everest, Kilimanjaro, McKinley, Denali, Elbrus… Between 1999 and 2002, Claire Bernier and her partner traveled the globe to climb and fly over the world’s most impressive peaks.
While the European champion is now a state-certified paragliding instructor at Delta Évasion, she has many other strings to her bow. She’s a paragliding instructor, but that’s not all—she also holds a mountain guide certification and trained in yoga in India. Can we talk about paragliding without mentioning our very own Delta Girl, Elisa Houdry? Ever since she was a little girl, this famous paraglider has had just one dream: to fly. And with two parents who are paragliders, it’s easy to see why!
It’s just a small step from dream to reality, and Élisa Houdry started with tandem flights before taking the plunge on her own… at just 14 years old. She later joined the French national paragliding team and was crowned world champion in 2009. Successes followed one after another, and the list of achievements grew for this Delta girl, who has carved out a prominent place for herself in the world of paragliding.
After finishing first at the Paragliding World Cup in South Korea and then in China, and securing a spot on the podium at the French Championships… Orlane Sturbois is undoubtedly a passionate flyer who has made a name for herself in the world of paragliding. Among her achievements, she has also won the famous Air Tour three times, a competition combining hiking and paragliding in a raid-style event. And among her many accomplishments, we can mention the Bornes to Fly, which she won in 2012.
In conclusion? She is an extremely qualified Delta Girl who will show you the peaks of Haute-Savoie in the most incredible way possible: by paragliding.
Based in Annecy, photographer Karine Dupureur specializes in sports events in Haute-Savoie. She takes the vast majority of Delta Évasion’s photos and is currently training to become a paragliding instructor in Annecy. This “Delta girl” will soon be able to accompany you on your first paragliding flights, allowing you to discover the Annecy region from the air!
