Give yourself the chance to experience the best
Delta Évasion’s microlights take off from Doussard, at the southernmost tip of Lake Annecy—more specifically from the Deltaland airfield. From there, you set off on an adventure to see the best of the region:
And of course, the graceful dance of the barnacle geese singing right beside you!
Please note: If you’re coming specifically for your microlight flight with the birds, be sure to book a hotel with a cancellation policy. Also, keep in mind that during the flight, you’re not allowed to take anything out of your pockets (such as a phone or camera).
A reality that has become part of our daily lives
You’ve probably spotted a pendulum microlight in the skies above Lake Annecy, followed by a flock of migratory birds. That’s the challenge Delta Evasion has taken on.
Dominique Cruciani, accompanied by Cassandre Schneider—both of whom are passionate about animals and nature—hand-reared 14 goslings born in captivity on May 24, 2021, with the aim of giving them the chance to fly and take to the skies.
To fly alongside the birds, Dominique drew on the experience he gained more than 20 years ago as a microlight pilot during the filming of Jacques Perrin’s documentary *Le Peuple Migrateur*. He teamed up with Jean-Michel Rivaud and Frédéric Cruciani, who were also specialists in flying with birds.
Today, the goal of this new epic is to help people who come to watch the geese fly better understand the key issues surrounding bird migration in our environment.
Although the barnacle goose resembles a small goose, it can be distinguished by its black neck, breast, and crown.
Its black beak blends seamlessly into the area around its eyes, and its webbed feet also have dark markings.
When in flight, the wings of the barnacle geese create an impressive sight as they stretch out over Lake Annecy. It’s a magnificent sight to behold. In spring, summer, or fall, treat your employees to a Delta Evasion first flight experience in a paraglider, hang glider, or two-seater microlight over Lake Annecy.
No special skills are required to take a first-time flight; our bilingual pilots are there to guide passengers and help them discover the joys of flying.
The name "Nunnette" comes from the image of a nun. Indeed, the bird's black plumage surrounds its head like a nun's veil.
Contrary to what some people claim, the first person in the world to fly with migratory birds was Bill Lishman, a Canadian artist who actually taught geese to fly in 1993.
Bill Lishman worked on Operation Migration, an experiment aimed at teaching migratory birds new, safer migration routes.
This experiment was made possible by the theory of imprinting and attachment. The ethologist Konrad Lorenz, winner of the Nobel Prize in Physiology, developed this theory of imprinting.
Imprinting is the phenomenon whereby, in the first moments of life, goslings regard the first creature they see as their mother.
Bill Lishman raised and imprinted a brood of 10 Canada geese. He managed to fly with the migratory birds in a pendulum microlight all the way to Virginia, and it worked.
His success, widely reported in the media, has sparked new hope for seriously endangered species (migratory birds). The images of his adventure were so breathtakingly beautiful that they provided the material for a magnificent film.
And so, inspired by these images, the screenwriters have crafted a heartwarming and moving fictional story—the tale of a father and his daughter, featuring migratory birds—based on real events and scientific data.
Caroll Ballard will direct this wonderful film adaptation: “Wild Flight.” The character of Thomas Alden, who exists only in the film, was inspired by Bill Lishman.
Some twenty years later, it was Nicolas Vanier’s turn to adapt the story of the film *L’envolée sauvage* in his own way by directing *Donnes-moi des ailes*. In this feature film, we see a story similar to that of the original film “L’envolée sauvage.” These two fictionalized productions, along with Jacques Perrin’s documentary “Le Peuple Migrateur,” help us understand the key issues surrounding bird migration in our environment today.
To fly alongside the birds over Lake Annecy, Dominique Cruciani drew on the experience he gained more than 20 years ago as a microlight pilot while filming Jacques Perrin’s documentary *Le Peuple Migrateur*. He teamed up with Jean-Michel Rivaud and Frédéric Cruciani, who were also specialists in flying with birds.
To prepare the geese, Dominique and Cassandre drew on the experience of Jean-Michel Rivaud, François Proix (ULM Alsace), Sylvain Leguédé (ULM Pégase), and Romain Tourneux (Le Puy du Fou).
“We can say that we have successfully completed our mission to fly with the birds and achieved our goals. Flying with wild geese over Lake Annecy is a magical experience. The images we capture are unique and breathtaking; flying over the valley, the lake, and the surrounding mountains evokes powerful emotions.”

Flight schedules vary depending on the season:
To ensure the birds' well-being, flights are scheduled based on weather and wind conditions, usually early in the morning.
What you wear depends on the season! In winter, wear ski gear (without the skis) + warm gloves + appropriate footwear. In spring and fall, bring warm clothes (a windbreaker, gloves, and waterproof shoes).

To fly a microlight alongside birds, calm winds and mild weather conditions are essential. Cool morning temperatures are preferred because birds struggle in the heat.
Yes! You only feel dizzy when you're in contact with the ground, so there's no risk while flying.
