From dreams of flying to building a large family
Dominique took up free flight at a very young age with his brothers Joël and Fred. Hang gliding, skydiving… Any means was good enough to escape for the duration of a flight! The brothers then built their first microlight. They rigged up an engine and attached a landing gear to the wings of a hang glider. For their first paragliding flight, they equipped it with a parachute, but took off from a mountainside rather than jumping from an airplane.
Dominique tries out every new innovation in the world of free flight: base jumping (parachute jumps from a fixed structure), skysurfing (freefalling while wearing nothing but a surfboard on your feet!), skydiving, paragliding, hang gliding, microlight flying… In 1979, our extreme sports specialist fulfilled his dream by combining his passion with his work: he founded Delta Evasion.
The adventure began in the 1980s in the heart of the Alps, specifically at Alpe d’Huez in the Grandes Rousses mountain range, in Isère (38). Dominique was one of the pioneers of tandem skydiving there. His exploits were filmed. He was then asked to shoot commercials as far away as South Africa. In 1988, the Delta Evasion team switched to the other side of the camera and filmed the Paris-Dakar rally from a microlight. The footage was broadcast on French television networks. Delta Evasion then specialized in aerial filming from microlights and helicopters and participated in numerous film shoots, television programs, and commercials.
Dominique also participates in unique water sports shows where boats, water skis, helicopters, microlights, and hang gliders perform stunts never seen before!
The Delta Evasion team has also won two extreme sports decathlons and participated in several microlight rally-raids.
Over the years, the team has grown and specialized in tandem flights. The pilots/instructors are all certified as free-flight instructors specializing in paragliding or hang gliding.
Today, thirteen pilots (all bilingual in French and English) are here to introduce as many people as possible to the joys of free flight.
True enthusiasts, some of the pilots have impressive track records, such as Claire Bernier, European champion and winner of the Paragliding World Cup, as well as Patrice Bonnefond and Christian Taphorel, French champions and former members of the French national paragliding team. In short, it’s a dream team!
Since 1997, the Delta Evasion team has been based at Lake Annecy in Haute-Savoie (74), where the flying conditions are exceptional for paragliding. Annecy is, in fact, the most popular paragliding site in Europe.
In 2002, the municipalities of Doussard, Montmin, and Talloires formed an association to manage and maintain takeoff and landing sites, thereby ensuring a comfortable and worry-free experience for paragliders.
But Lake Annecy is also, above all, a setting of exceptional beauty, with its lagoon-blue beaches and the surrounding Alpine peaks—a truly breathtaking panorama! Taking a first-time flight over Lake Annecy offers a whole new way to discover the region and is a truly unique experience! You’ll leave with incredible photos and memories!

In 2017, the Delta Evasion team created a visitor center dedicated to its customers, Deltaland, located next to the Doussard multipurpose hall—a landing site for paragliders and hang gliders, as well as a takeoff strip for Delta Evasion’s microlights and microlight helicopters.
At Deltaland, you can enjoy a pleasant moment before and/or after your first flight, sipping a drink and taking in the spectacle of paragliders dotting the sky above the lake. An inflatable structure and a trampoline have even been set up there for the kids.
On the agenda with the Delta Evasion team: adventure, thrills, a change of scenery, and freedom! Pure joy, quite simply!
